Diversified Electronics Inc.

Diversified Electronics, Inc. is a family owned and operated business that began when CEO John V. Thornton bought the business in April 1986 after having worked with the previous owner for fifteen (15) years. John’s career initially began with Motorola where he worked for nine years. His position as Motorola’s Southeastern & Southwestern Parts Manager helped him launch his new business. Now, twenty-two (22) years after he purchased it, Diversified Electronics is only one of four fast growing divisions. The company and its sister companies have grown and expanded over the years and currently have over 80 employees in five locations in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina with three professionally staffed service centers. John and his sons, Johnny and Chris, manage the Diversified sales and service centers and three sister companies; Diversified Electronics of South Carolina, Creative Wireless Solutions and Racing Radios.

In 1988 Diversified Electronics, Inc. became one of the first to sell the Radius product line which targeted smaller commercial markets and in 1991 Diversified Electronics became a Charter full line Motorola dealer, selling two-way radios, pagers, and replacement parts. Diversified Electronics has been a proud member of the Motorola Pinnacle Club, which recognizes the top dealers in the United States, for fourteen consecutive years. Our sales force achieved the top performer in the nation award in 1993, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Racing Radios

Racing Radios was conceived in 1974 when the Competition Director for NASCAR approached Diversified Electronics for assistance with racing radio communications problems. Diversified Electronics was successful in correcting the problems and, when word spread, became a source for several racing teams. As a result Diversified Electronics began to manufacture accessories for two-way radios using Motorola equipment and designed to enhance the quality of racing communications. In 1979 Racing Radios® was formed as a division of Diversified Electronics and ten years later Racing Radios® was incorporated. Today Racing Radios is the official two way supplier for NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Grand American Road Racing Association (Grand-AM), Indy Racing League (IRL), International Hot Rod Association (IHRA), International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), and is the authorized service provider for Champ Car World Series. Racing Radios has locations in both Georgia and North Carolina.





SPEAR Labs was created through the partnering of Active Xtreme Inc. (AXI) and Diversified Electronics Inc. with the goal of providing state of the art communication systems tailored for military application with the advantage of being commercial off-the-shelf products.

Creative Wireless Solutions

Creative Wireless Solutions, an innovative wireless broadband company, was formally established in early 2006 to specialize in hard to design networks. Creative Wireless Solutions consists of a team of experienced personnel assigned to engineer the distribution of bandwidth point to point over 20 miles to remote areas. They have designed and built networks for municipalities and residential areas. They have also designed and built custom systems to help with safety in motor sports, maintaining network connections at speeds nearing 200mph. The staff of Creative Wireless Solutions are qualified to handle any wireless communication system that your needs require.
